Abstract
The critical micelle concentrations(CMC)and viscosities of the novel Gemini surfactants were determined. The effect of concentration, length of the carbon chain and inorganic salt on viscosity was discussed. The results indicated that CMC of the Gemini was lower 1~2 orders of magnitude than that of sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS).The CMC was decreased as the increase of the length of carbon chain. The effect of concentration on the viscosity for Gemini surfactants was larger than that for SDS.With addition of inorganic salts, the viscosity of Gemini surfactants increased initially and then decreased. The aggregate morphology of Gemini surfactant in solution was observed by TEM.The vesicle whose diameter was from 80 to 100 nm was founded in C8-2-C8.
