Abstract
The extraction of Americium and some lanthanides (Ce, Nd, Eu) by trialkyl phosphine oxide(TRPO)was studied.A mathematical model for computing their distribution ratios has been developed from the experimental data. The concentration profile of species in multistage countercurrent TRPO extraction process with different process parameters was computed, and the calculated results were examined with countercurrent experiment using multistage miniature centrifugal extractor in series. The results indicate that TRPO can effectively extract Am from medium concentration nitric acid solution. On the basis of the calculation, the TRPO extraction process parameters for 99.9% recovery of Am from high level radioactive waste were recommended
