Abstract

This paper researches on how to remove iron and manganese from iron, manganese and fluorine coexisting water by biological methods. The static simulation test, which uses mature media of enrichment largely iron and manganese bacteria, was carried out to inspect effects of F-concentration and reaction time on iron and manganese bacteria oxidation ability. When the F-concentration is below 10mg /L,the existence of F-concentration has constantly stimulating effect on iron and manganese removal. The stimulating effect is the strongest at around 5 mg /L of F-concentration.The iron and manganese bacteria are in stability period after bacteria undertakes restraint in adjustment period under high F-concentration.The iron and manganese bacteria oxidation ability under high F-concentration is equal to the one without fluoride concentration, the mature media, which is enriched in water with F-for long time, own defluoridation capacity partly. The experiment shows that biological method is adapt to removing iron and manganese in groundwater with partly fluoride. At the same time, the mature media own faint and long-lasting capacity of defluoridation.
