Abstract

Inward-rectifying potassium ion(K+) channel is one of the important ways of plant potassium absorption.Recently, many genes of inward-rectifying K+ channel, such as AKT1,KAT1,SIRK,KST1,etc.have been isolated from different plant species or different organs of the same plant. In this paper, recent research of the classification, structure characters and physiological functions of the genes of inward-rectifying K+ channel were reviewed. The application of inward-rectifying K+ channels to improve plant potassium nutrition was mentioned as well.
