Abstract

This paper analyzes the ideas and artistic style of Shen Congwen's novel City on the Border,which on the content shows the simple and unsophisticated folk customs and folkways of the people in the west of Hunan Province through a vivid tragedy,and sings the praises of the great beauty in human feelings and human nature of ordinary labours.Artistically,it reflects a delicate and significant style of pastoral poetry.
