Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of acupuncture therapy with Qi-supplementing and blood-invigorating on ability of learning and memory and superoxide dismutase and malondialdehyde in hippocampal tissue of rat with vascular dementia(VD).Methods 30 SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups of 10.VD model rats were established by Pulsinelklli-4 vessel occlusion in model group and treatment group.Treatment group received Yiqihuoxue prescription which was composed of Baihui,Geshu, air sea,Sanyinjiao and Shanzhong.Morris water maze test indicators,SOD activity and MDA content in hippocampus were detected in rats of three groups. Results Daily escape latency of rats in model group were significantly longer than that in control group(P0.01),escape latency of rat in treatment group was significantly shorter than that in the model group(P0.01),but still longer than that in the control group(P0.01).The numbers of rat passing original platform in treatment group was more than that in model group after the first 5 days(P0.01).SOD activity in model group was decreased and MDA was increased in comparison with those in control group(P0.01,P0.05).SOD activity in model group was increased and MDA was decreased in comparison with those in model group(P0.01).And increased SOD activity and reduced MDA levels in the treatment group were closed to those of normal group(P 0.05).Conclusion The role of acupuncture therapy with Qi-supplementing and blood-invigorating on vascular dementia maybe related to improving ability of learning and memory of rat with VD,enhancing SOD activity and decreasing MDA content in hippocampal tissue of rat.
