Abstract
Periodontitis is an infectious and distructive disease caused by periodontal pathogens. It leads to an array of periodontal tissue destruction, including alveolar bone resorption.Bisphosphonates have the ability to prevent the bone resorption and accelerate the bone formation potiently. In the treatment of rat experimental periodontitis, the bone loss and inflammation also could be prevented by which. Now BPs' have been used in the adjunctive drug treament of human periodontitis gradually. The objective of this article is to review the mechanism of BPs'in regulation of bone metabolism and the new development in the therapeutic management of periodontitis.
