Repair of thumb tip defect with dorsal thumb neurocutaneous vasotrophic island flap

Objective To observe the clinical results of dorsal thumb neurocutaneous vasotrophic island flap for treatment of thumb tip defect.Methods The dorsal thumb neurocutaneous vasotrophic island flap was used to repair the thumb tip defect in 12 cases.Results 12 cases were followed up for 6~24 months.All flaps survived well.The length of thumb was restored,and sensor and motor function was recovered with good profile.Conclusions The dorsal thumb neurocutaneous vasotrophic island flap is an ideal method for repair the thumb tip defect with advantages of high survival rate,fine appearance and easy to operate.
