Abstract
After 2 years operation of the Sanmenxia Reservoir, the elevation at Tongguan run sharply up. Before the construction of the reservoir, the river channel at Tongguan nearly balanced or fill up slightly by sediments. It is shown by analysis that the elevation change at Tongguan is caused by the operational mode of Sanmenxia Reservoir. During the period of the reservoir by mode of store the clear and discharge the muddy water, the operational water level and the water and sediment inflow from upper streams is the causation of elevation running up.
