Repair of Eyelid Defect by Eyelid-temporal Flap Pedicled by Orbicularis Oculi Muscle

Abstract

Objective To investigate the techniques for repair of skin defect of eyelid.Methods Following on the size of eyelid defect to plan a eyelid-temporal flap with ocular pedicle to repair the defect.Results The flaps were used in 8 cases of eyelid defects,including basal cell carcinoma,split nevi,and other eyelid defect.All the flaps survived completely with good color match and appearance.Conclusion The pedicle of orbicularis oculi muscle can carry a long island flap and can be easily rotated.The flaps are very useful for the repair of eyelid defect with reliable blood supply and better color match.
