The Book of Rongcheng Zhuzhi Ci and the Study of Miao and Dong Customs in Guizhou in the Qing Dynasty

The six songs in the book,Rongcheng Zhuzhi Ci,written by Long Shaone,a successful examinee in the court examination in the late Qing Dynasty,described for the first time the natural and social environment of the Miao and Dong living areas in Guizhou. Then,it related to the song and dance entertainment,eating habits,national communication,and the like about the two ethnic groups. The songs not only embodied the original characteristics of the Miao and Dong areas,but also reflected the background situation before the reform and the new cultural and economic development in those areas in the late Qing Dynasty,which are really important and indispensable historical data for the research of Guizhou in the late Qing Dynasty.
