Abstract
The heat-pulse technique was applied to determine the stem sap flow of 25a Populus euphratica in May to Oct of 2003,and to calculate the forests water consumption. The results show that Populus euphratica stem sap flow was linearity correlated to area of sapwood and the tree diameter. The water consumption of Populus euphratica were different among seasons. The young tree spent water 213.4mm in growth period. The forest growth was affected by groundwater level and soil moisture.
