Abstract

The structure characteristics and field control principle of a novel asymmetrically stagger hybrid excitation synchronous machine(ASHESM)were introduced.Based on the features of the ASHESM,the equivalent magnetic circuit model was derived,and its main performances were calculated.A 1-kW 8-poles prototype was manufactured.3-D finite element analysis(FEA)was used to analyze no-load magnetic field distributions and air-gap flux per pole of the prototype for different field currents.The experiments for the field control capability of the ASHESM have carried out,it shows that the circuit analysis results coincide well with the FEA and experimental results,which verified the availability of equivalent magnetic circuit analysis method.
