Abstract

The composition and biomass of benthic algae of the littoral of Qingdao incl-uding the Pier, Taiping Comer and Shilaoren were studied in 5/98 and 5/99. Theresults of the investigation are as follows: 1. In the survey areas, 38 genus, 58 speciesof benthic algae were found and they are identified as: 11 Chlorophyta, ll Phaeop-the and 36 Rhodophyta. 2. The number of species in the Pier was the highest andthe biomass in Taiping Comer was the highest.
