Abstract

With the litterbag method, the decompositions of two submerged macrophytes(Potamogeton pectinatus and Potamogeton crispus)growing in WuLiang SuHai Lake were in investigated in 58 days consecutively. Results showed,Potamogeton crispus had the higher decomposition rate comparing to Potamogeton pecinatus.Nutrients in water had negligible effects on the loss of dry weight but had significant effect on the release of phosphorus and nitrogen from plant material. The level of nutrients in water was positively related to the release rate of phosphorus and nitrogen.Phosphorus release was prior to nitrogen in the breakdown process. The loss process of dry weight of plant was modeled.
