Abstract

An experimental study on simulating the operation ofintegrated purifying reactor for domestic sewage treatment has been conducted for investigating the biodegradation performance. The results indicated that the average percentage removal for COD and BOD was 83.48% and 95.92% respectively, the water quality of effluent water reached the Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant level 1B and the reactor had a strong ability of minimizing the negative affects associated with influent spikes at a fixed hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 3.8 d and the flow rate of 300 L·d-1.This test proved that the reactor could remove nitrogen and phosphor, but it was also noted the removal of NH3-N, TN and TP was not desired in reality because of the secondary clarifier operating problems.
