Level and Effect on Co-agglomeration of Producer Service and Manufacturing Industry: Empirical Evidence from the Eastern Area of China

Based on empirical evidence from the eastern area of China,the paper establishes a co-agglomeration index of agglomeration of producer services and manufacturing industry to analyzes their coordination degree and examine relationship and effect of their co-agglomeration. The research includes the follow ing conclusions: Collaborative agglomeration levels in eastern coastal area are quiet different; Producer services agglomeration and manufacturing agglomeration in the ten provinces and municipalities both have obvious path dependence; In ten provinces,manufacturing agglomeration and producer services agglomeration obstruct each other at the same time; The lag one period to current manufacturing agglomeration has a positive role to promote the development of producer services agglomeration in the ten areas. The empirical analysis about synergy effects of agglomeration is that collaborative cluster have a positive role in promoting regional economic grow th and upgrading of industry,but not obvious effect on technology innovation.
