The author presents a systematic and careful analysis of Zhou Zuoren's concepts of the Chinese New Poetry, which covers a wide range of topics, including the essence of poetry, personal style versus the locality and the nationality of poetry ,contents versus formality, the poet's proclivity to dreaming, the succinctness and implicitness of the language used, as well as the attitude toward traditional Chinese poetry and foreign contemporary poetry , the development path for modern Chinese poetry to take and the proper approach to poetry criticism. Zhou Zuoren's thoughts on these issues break new grounds for the advancement of New Poetry, are complete, Systematic, open and inclusive.
