Abstract

In this paper, a 3800TEU container ship is taken as an example. 2-D strip theory is used to calculate the long term prediction of wave induced motion and loading, based on which a group of equivalent waves are defined. The bending torsion combined deformation and stress in each part of main structural members of the ship hull under every equivalent wave train are calculated by a 3 D global FE model of the whole ship. The way of FE analysis of the whole ship for the container ship can be used to other types of ships.
