Pocket Parks——Oasis Away From the Bustle of High Density Midtown

By analyzing the design and construction process of Paley Park,the development of Pocket Park theory and practice in America was clearly understood. Pocket parks are adaptable to many different sites,small size,and can be tucked into and scattered throughout the urban fabric,and pocket parks have multiple sources of funding from public and private foundations,owned and managed by neighborhoods. All above characteristics make pocket parks play a crucial role in meeting the needs for Public Park in high density midtown. These parks are complementary to large urban parks which have the function of providing people with space for physical and spiritual recreation and regeneration. Therefore,it is suggested that small park systems in China should be investigated and corresponding policy be established.
