The Framework Design of a Web GIS Based Public Participatory Planning System

Abstract

Rapid developing Internet together with more and more advanced Web GIS launch a channel for public to get mass planning participation in a spatial referenced decision-making.This paper explores the use of Web GIS,Internet and other technologies,design a Web GIS based public participatory planning system framework,to overcome the information access barriers and improve the scope and degree of public participatory in planning process.A ArcIMS based system is developed to demonstrate the framework.
