Abstract

Objective:To observe the position and relationship of mandibular third molar and mandibular canal which show overlapping image on orthopantomography with CBCT.Methods:116 patients with 136 teeth on orthopantomography were assessed with CBCT.Software(I-view) was used to measure and class the image. All statistical analysis was performed using x~2 test by the SAS statistical package. Results:There was no correlation between the sex and the probability of mandibular third molar contacted with mandibular canal(P=0.07580.05).Correlation:existed between the white bone line and the probability of mandibular third molar contacted with mandibular canal(P=0.00030.05).Conclusion:CBCT can predict more exactly the position and relationship of mandibular third molar and mandibular canal, compared with OPG.
