Abstract

The paper deals with the changes and its significance of nitric oxide synthase (NOS)activity and nitric oxide products ( NO1- /NO3-) content in plasma during hemorrhagic shock resuscitation as well as the protective effect of taurine on it/rhe model of hemorrhagic shock resuscitation was used. Sixteen rabbits were divided randomly into 2 groups( n = 8): shock group, taurine group. The activities of NOS, the contents of nitric oxide products(NO2-/NO3- ) in plasma and mean artery pressure (MAP) were observed before shock and shock 1 .5 hours, after resuscitation 1 hour, 2 hours and 3 hours. Result shows: During resuscitation, the activities of NOS and the contents of NO2-/NO3- in plasma of shock group were significantly higher than that of before shock and shock 1 .5 hours( P 0.01) ,the MAP of shock group were significantly lower than that of before shock ( P 0.01) .Taurine(40 mg·kg-1 ,iv) could attenuate all the changes mentioned above at total time points of reperfusion. ( P 0.01). These results suggested that the increasing NO during hemorrhagic shock resuscitation might directly lead to vasodilation to decrease blood vessel resistance and blood pressure. Taurine has a beneficial effect in maintaining the blood pressure, mechanism of which may be related to decreasing the generation of NO.
