The study of performing therapeutic leukapheresis and plateletpheresis sequencially with a single apheresis kit

Objective To study the practicability,technology and methods of performing therapeutic leukapheresis and plateletpheresis sequencially with a single Apheresis Kit in the cases of chronic myeloid leukemia with leukocytosis and thrombocytosis.Methods With CS 3000 plus blood cell separator,10 procedures of therapeutic leukapheresis and plateletpheresis were performed sequencially with a single Apheresis Kit on 10 cases of chronic myeloid leukemia with leukocytosis and thrombocytosis.One of the two procedures(leukapheresis or plateletpheresis)was performed at first.Then empty the Collection Container,change the procedure(from leukapheresis to plateletpheresis,or vice versa)and Container Holders(both Separator Container Holder and Collection Container Holder),and another procedure was performed.In the treatment period,chemotherapies were administrated to the patients at the same time.The main laboratory index such as WBC、PLT,RBC and Hb,clinical symptoms and signs were observed before and after therapies.Results After therapies,both WBC and PLT decreased markedly,clinical symptoms and signs either relieved or eliminated.There's no statistical difference between this method and the pure leukapheresis and plateletpheresis(P0.05).Conclusion Performing leukapheresis and plateletpheresis sequencially with a single Apheresis Kit is a safe,effective,practicable and economic method in the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia with leukocytosis and thrombocytosis.It can drop the medical expanse markedly.
