Abstract
Objective:To approach the feasibility and value of acute physiology and chronic health evaluation(APACHE)system applied in patients with severe head trauma.Methods:The comparative study of APACHEⅡ APACHEⅢ and Glasgow coma scale(GCS) used in 95 patients with severe head trauma were performed prospectively,randomly.Results:The three scores were closely related to the mortality and there were significantly scores differences between the survivors and nonsurvivors( P 0 01).APACHE Ⅱ and APACHE Ⅲ, especially APACHE Ⅱ,were superior to GCS.Conclusions:APACHE scoring system can be used not only to evaluate the severity of patients with head trauma,but also to predict correctly the prognosis of the patients.
