Abstract
Objective To quantify the condyle position and stress distribution as the mandible gradually forward in patients with OSAHS.Methods A three-dimensional finite element model of the mandible and temporomandibular joint was established using CT,imaging Mimics,Imageware and Ansys software.The change of condylar position and stress distribution were observed through gradually loading the protrusive mandible.Results As the mandible gradually forward at different levels,the condylar position and stress distribution underwent corresponding change and various parts of the displacement was increased.When the mandible protrusion was 68%,condylar stress values of the various parts got the minimum.Conclusion By observation condyle position and stress changes in patients with OSAHS,a theoretical basis in temporomandibular joint will be provided for the clinical use of oral appliances for the treatment of OSAHS.
