Abstract
Recent studies and in-situ tests have found that the ground improvement under embankment is largely different from the building foundation due to embankment' smaller rigidity.The side friction of pile,the axial stress within piles and the depth of pile end penetrating into the embankment and soil were studied numerically under different cushion moduli,pile moduli,soil moduli,replacement ratio and pile length.The author point out that the penetration depth of pile end under embankment disagree with that mentioned in the Technical Code of Pile Foundations due to different causes of pile end penetration.
