Recent development in vaccine adjuvant research

Vaccine adjuvant can enhance adaptive immune responses to antigens,which is very important in research and development of novel vaccines.In recent years,more and more novel vaccine adjuvant has been developed.In this article,we summarized the current practice and future perspectives for different adjuvant,including the potential applications,action of mechanism,the effects on immune system,the clinical efficiency and adverse events,and the highlights on adjuvant research and development.In addition to ideal adjuvant,we also pay attention to the safety issue of vaccine adjuvant.Further understanding about the adjuvant mode of action and establishing reliable model help in assessing vaccine safety thoroughly and alleviating public health concern.
