Abstract
The water conservation function of mixed forests of Schima superha plantation was studied from forest canopy, shrub layer, herb layer, litter layer and soil layer. The results showed that there were great differences of water conservation function in the different forest stand because of their different structure. The water-holding capacities in different forest stands are in the sequence of mixed forest of superba-Pinus massonianamixed forest of superba massonianapure forest of Taiwanensispure forest massonina. The water-holding capacities of different stand layers are in the sequence of soil layerforest canopylitter layershrub layergrass layer. The mixed forests of superba have stronger water conservation function than its pure forests.
