Abstract

Objective:To investigate the difference in evoked potentials between the patients with positive and negative schizophrenia. Methods:This study included 37 patients with positive schizophrenia,26 patients with negative schizophrenia, and 64 normal control subjects. The visual evoked potential (VEP),auditory evoked potential (AEP),and somatosensory evoked potential (SEP) were recorded. Results:Compared with normal control subjects,in patients with positive schizophrenia, the latencies of VEP and AEP was shorten, the latency of AEP was prolonged, and the amplitudes of VEP,AEP,and SEP decreased; in the patients with negative schizophrenia, the latency of AEP was prolonged, and the amplitudes of VEP,AEP,and SEP decreased more obviously. There were significant differences in the latencies of VEP and AEP and the amplitudes of VEP and AEP between patients with positive and negative schizophrenia. Conclusion:There are differences in the latency and amplitude of evoked potentials between the patients with positive and negative schizophrenia, and further study is needed.
