Abstract

Based on the index developed by Ellision and Glaeser, this study adjusts the degree of industrial agglomeration ri coefficient. Then it measures the agglomeration degree of Yangtze Delta Area’s 18 manufacturing industries from 1988 to 2009 by using the adjusted index and CRi index. The results indicate that the overall agglomeration degree of Yangtze Delta Ar ea’s manufacturing industry is quite high, especially those industries depended on resource, convenient traffic and high technology. From the perspective of time,Yangtze Delta Area’s industries agglomeration degree has continuously ascended from 1988 to 2009,while its growth rate shapes U curve. From perspective of space, the agglomeration regional distribution is unbalanced, industries mainly concentrate on Shanghai,Nanjing,Suzhou,Wuxi,Hangzhou and Ningbo, the polarization is still be exist but its tendency is reducing.
