Abstract
The Dongting Lake is the important flood storage place of the Changjiang River,Xiang River,Zi River,Yuan River and Li River,which plays an important role in the flood control of the middle and lower Changjiang River. Because of sediment disposition,reclamation,change of river-lake relation,the flood storage function of the Dongting Lake has changed a lot. According to the different times of flood storage function during 1954 to 2010 and the process of extreme flood storage in 1954 and in 1998,the article researches on characteristics of flood storage and change law of the Dongting Lake,which is of reference for compiling flood control general plan of the middle and lower Changjiang River,especially of the Dongting Lake.
