Low Cervical Collar Curved Incision in the Treatment of Benign Thyroid Goiter (Report of 26 Cases)

Objective To explore the surgical outcome of low cervical curved incision in the treatment of benign thyroid goiter.Methods 26 patients with benign thyroid goiter were enrolled in this study.All patients underwent low cervical collar curved incision thyroid surgery under tracheal intubation anesthesia.Drainage tube was put in wound area during operation.Results All operations were successful and had no blood transfusion.2 cases came with hoarseness postoperatively.They recovered in 1 month after certain therapy.No postoperative complications occurred with 3 to 16 months follow-up.Conclusion Low cervical collar curved incision is a safe and effective approach in the treatment of benign thyroid goiter.Moreover,it has a certain cosmetic effect.
