Abstract
The complex apparent conductivity of induction log consists of R-signal (resistive signal) and X-signal (reactive signal), which are defined in uniform medium. The analytic solutions and the forward programs of the numerical mode-matching method(NMM) of induction log are applied, and the response curves of some formation models are computed, and the main conclusions we obtain are as follows: X-signal can compensate R-signal for skin effect; the investigation depth of X-signal is greater than that of R-signal; borehole’s effect on R-signal are big; the vertical resolution of R-signal is better than that of X-signal; magnetic formations can cause significant perturbations on X-signal.
