Abstract
Objective To discuss the effect of rehabilitation training on patients with vascular dementia. Methods 63 cases with mild or moderate vascular dementia were randomly divided into 2 groups: rehabilitation training group(n=30) and control group(n=31).Rehabilitation training group received drug treatment and 12-week rehabilitation training while the control group received drug treatment only. The Clinical Dementia Rating Scale(CDR),the Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE),the Wechesler Memory Scale for Adult(WMS) and the Activity of Daily Living Scale(ADL) were applied at the beginning of the treatment and at the end of 12 weeks to evaluate the cognitive function and daily living ability. Results MMSE and WMS scores of the patients in both groups at the end of 12 weeks showed significant difference(p0.05);ADL of rehabilitation training group was of significant difference(p0.05) while that of control group was of no obvious difference(p0.05);the score improvement of MMSE,WMS and ADL before and after treatment in rehabilitation training group was much greater than that in control group (p0.05).Conclusions Rehabilitation training can obviously improve the cognition and daily living ability of the patients with vascular dementia and it can also delay the dementia progress.
