Hyperbaric oxygen(HBO) combined with methylprednisolon(MP) in the early treatment of acute spinal cord injury

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of hyperbaric oxygen combined with methylpre-dnisolone in early treatment of acute spinal cord injury.Method The 95 cases of spinal cord injury were studied retrospectively which the neurosurgery department of author's hospital collected them from June 2006 to December 2009.All the patients afforded decompression and internal fixation operation,according to the standardization to be internalized they were divided into three groups: HBO group(31 patients),MP group(32 patients) and HBO+MP group(32 patients).After operation HBO group was treaded by hyperbaric oxygen as early as possible.Results The clinical therapeutic effect of HBO+MP group was superior to HBO and MP groups(P0.01).The clinical therapeutic effect of MP group was superior to HBO group(P0.05).Conclusion Hyperbaric oxygen combined with methylprednisolone for early treatment can promote the function recovery of the spinal cord effectively,reduce the disability rate,improve the quality of life significantly.
