Abstract

The most basal accord and similarity of the literary spirit and Neo-Confucianism in the Song Dynasty is namely the syncretism of culture and doctrines, stressing ration and despising sentiment. Doctrines represent pursuit of the ultimate value and affirmation of their own personality of the scholars of the Song Dynasty; but praising ration is a greatest surpass of the people of Song Dynasty over the people of the Tang Dynasty in the method to grasp the world, those display the development of the society to modern times, under the situation of the increasing development of natural science the mature and transmutation of culture belongs to progress without fail. And it has brought a series of negative impacts and problems as well. Owing to those two causes, the spirit of literature in the Song Dynasty takes on the features and characteristics evidently different from the former dynasties.
