The Construction of the Governing Ability: a Great Development of the Theory of Marxist Party Construction

The expounding of the construction of the Communist Party by Marx and Engles constitutes a rich content of the theory of Marxist Party construction. But because of the limitation of the conditions of the times, it lacks the thinking of the issue of the self-construction of the Party when in power. Lenin and Mao Zedong’s thought of the Party construction has developed a great deal. It has explored the construction of the Party in power and proposed some important viewpoints, but it has not formed a systematic theory. Since the reform and opening, the two leadership collectives headed respectively by Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin have paid much attention to the issue of the Party construction in practice, and enriched gradually the theory of the construction of the Party in power, which has formed the strategic thinking of the great project of emphasizing the construction of the governing ability and advancing the Party construction comprehensively. This is a great development of the theory of Marxist Party construction.
