Abstract

[Objective] To screen the Chinese prescription to control chicken coccidiosis effectively and investigate the treating effects.[Method] Chinese Herbs were selected by the inhibition test of sporulation of Eimeria bovis oocysts and Bleeding inhibition test to compose Baonangjing prescription.A total of 120 Hy-Line chicks at 15 days old were randomly divided into 6 groups.Negative control group was fed with normal diet, and not inoculated with Eimeria tenella sporulated oocysts, while the other 5 groups were inoculated with 1.0×104 Eimeria tenella sporulated oocysts per chicken.Positive control group was treated by drugs;three Chinese Herbs groups were fed with diets containing 0.5%,1.0% and 1.5% Baonangjing prescription;drug treatment control group was treated with 0.01% sulfaquinoxaline sodium through drinking water. The physical and chemical indicators and anti-coccidia index (ACI) were measured in each group.[Results] The loss of red blood cell were reduced in the 1.0% and 1.5% Chinese Herbs groups, which was significantly different with that in positive control group (P0.01) and different with that in drug treatment control group (P0.05).The number of white blood cells in 1.0% and 1.5% Chinese medicine group was significantly lower than the positive control group (P0.01),and the coagulation time in those groups was significantly shorter compared with the positive control group (P0.05).The ACI in 1.5% Chinese medicine group reached 193.53.[Conclusion] Baonangjing prescription could control chicken coccidiosis by inhibiting sporulation of Eimeria bovis oocysts, killing coccidian and reducing bleeding.
