Abstract

Objective:To investigate epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) gene mutations in exons 19 and 21 of patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) and to analyze the relationship of EGFR mutations with clinicopathologic features in Zhoushan Archipelago. Methods:The EGFR gene exons 19 and 21 of tumor tissue were amplified by PCR,followed by direct sequencing in 129 surgically-removed specimens of NSCLC.The relationship of EGFR gene mutations in NSCLC with clinicopathologic features and prognosis were analyzed. Results:EGFR mutations were detected in 35 cases of 129(27.1%) patients with NSCLC.Mutations were more frequently observed in women,non-smokers,adenocarcinoma patients and well-differentiated NSCLC patients, which were the risk factors for EGFR mutation(P 0.05).Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the overall survival time of NSCLC patients with wild-type EGFR had no significant difference with patients with mutated EGFR(P 0.05).Conclusion:The rate of EGFR mutations occurred in Zhoushan Archipelago was 27.1%,more frequently in females,non-smokers,adenocarcinoma patients and well-differentiated NSCLC patients, but it had no significant correlation with overall survival time.
