Abstract
Objective:To study the effects of salivae miltiorrhizae(SM) on apoptosis of hepatic cells in ischemia - reperfusion(IR) injury in rats. Methods: The apoptosis of hepatic cells of rats with ischemia - reperfusion injury was observed by terminal deoxynuleotidy transferase - mediated nicked labeling(TUNEL) and the expression of apoptosis relative genes was determined by immunohistochemical staining. Then the effects of SM injection on apoptosis of hepatic cells of the animals were investigated. Results: After the ischemia - reperfusion injury, the typical apoptotic morphological characters in hepatic cells of these rats were observed, and there was very significantly difference of the rate of apoptotic liver cells between the IR group and SM group(p0.01). The expression of bcl - 2 decreased significantly in IR group, but increased in SM group(p0.01). Conclusion: SM may inhibit the apoptosis of hepatic cells induced by ischemia - reperfusion injury in rats.
