Abstract
【Objective】The study was designed to explore the effect of Damage Control Surgery (DCS) in the treatment of severe abdominal trauma.【Methods】A total of 109 cases selected under the rules of DCS were treated by emergency operation to control the bleeding and contamination, and undertake temporary abdominal wall closure. The definitive operation was operated as soon as the vital signs became stable in ICU.【Results】Resuscitation in ICU was performed and the definitive operation was operated successfully.93 cases survived.16 cases died of multiple organ failure or severe cerebral trauma. The body temperature, serum pH and prothrombin time (PT) level of patients during resuscitation in EICU were not significantly different from those of abdominal traumas.【Conclusion】 Damage control surgery can shorten the operating time, lessen the traumatic stress, fast correct the triad of trauma and lower the incidence rate of postoperative complications.Damage control surgery plays an important role in dealing with severe abdominal trauma.
