Abstract

The friction and wear behavior of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) based bonded solid lubricating coating under dry sliding and oillubricated conditions was evaluated,and the lubrication mechanism was primarily explored. Results show that PTFE-based bonded solid lubricating coating has a much lower friction coefficient under oil lubrication than under dry sliding, and the friction coefficients under both dry sliding and oil-lubricated conditions vary slightly with varying load and sliding velocity. Under a relatively low load (320 N) and sliding velocity ( 1.55 m/s) , oil lubrication helped to reduce the friction and wear of the PTFE-based bonded solid lubricating coating. However, under a relatively high load (620 N) and sliding velocity (2.58 m/s), oil lubrication led to worsened friction and wear behavior of the coating.
