Abstract

This paper introduces the development of network storage, reviews the main approaches of network storage, and analyses the architecture of network storage today. In addition, we describe the method to implement the iSCSI initiator and the iSCSI target in the Linux 2.4.0 kernel. Finally the performance of iSCSI is tested and compared with NFS and the local hard disk.
