Abstract

Objective To study the effect of preoperative wiping vagina for sterilizing vagina with electrolyed oxidation water. Methods After wiping vaginal wall, vaginal fornix, cervix with electrolyed oxidation water, 0.1% benzalkonium and povidone iodine respectively and detecting vaginal clearing degree and mycoplasm, the effects were compared. (All data were obtained from our hospital's inpatients which were divided into two groups according to their bed number. Inpatients with odd bed number were electrolyed oxidation water group, while inpatients with even bed number were 0.1% benzalkonium group and povidne iodine group.) Results The effect of electrolyed oxidation water for sterilizing vagina was better than that of 0.1% benzalkonium and povidone iodine. There were 22 cases of mycoplasma infection among 100 cases of electrolyed oxidation water group, with 15 cases turning negative after wiping with electrolyed oxidation water 6 times, and rate of turning negative was 68%. There were 18 cases of mycoplasma infection in 80 cases of 0.1% benzalkonium group, with 3 cases turning negative after wiping with the solution, and the rate of turning negative was 17%. There were 4 cases of mycoplasma in 20 cases of povidone iodine group, with 2 cases turning negative after wiping with povidone iodine, and the rate of turning negative was 50%. It was evident that the effect of electrolyed oxidation water for sterilizing vagina was significantly better than 0.1% benzalkonium and povidone iodine (P0.01). Conclusions Electrolyed oxidation water is a suitable tool for wiping vagina before gynecologic operation, with no simulation to skin of mucous membrane, no pollution to environment and convenience to fabricate.
