Abstract
The heat resistant overhead conductors are widely used,as the main renewal conductor type for renovation and capacity expansion of urban networks,in the renovation of regional grids.The Chongqing area features dense networks and precious line corridors.The existing lines cannot carry large enough current to meet the requirement for load increase due to limited conductor size.The problem of great demand for large transmission capacity and limited line corridor resources can be solved by using the heat resistant conductors,which can remarkably increase the transmission capacity of overhead conductors.This paper briefly presents the present application and technical level of the heat resistant conductors in China.In terms of the renovation project to raise the ampacity of the existing lines in the the Chongqing area by over 30%,the feasibility of using the heat resistant conductors in this project was analyzed.Furthermore,the authors analyzed the static and dynamic economic benefits that would be gained if one of the 110 kV transmission lines uses the heat resistant conductors.They demonstrated that high economic benefits would be gained if the heat resistant conductors were to be used in the renovation of the 110kV transmission lines in the Chongqing area.
