Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between the outcome and the character of amniotic fluid in intrahepatic cholestasis(ICP)patients. Methods 452 pregnant women with ICP who were treated in our department from November 2003 to May 2007 were analyzed retrospectively.Amniotic fluid pollution, fetal distress, perinatal mortality and cesarean delivery rates were statistically analyzed. Results There were 124 pregnant women with amniotic fluid pollution,91 with severe ICP in which 22 fetal distresses occurred. In 9 perinatal deaths, there were 8 patients with amniotic fluid Ⅲ°.72 amniotic fluid pollution of 302 patients were found during cesarean delivery for no laboring and premature rupture of membrane before 34 pregnancy week. Conclusions The characters of amniotic fluid is consisted with the severity of ICP.Patients with amniotic fluid pollution in ICP had worse outcome.Careful fetal assessment and appropriate terminating pregnancy might improve perinatal outcome.
