Abstract
The background of the EU raw materials trade strategy is the high dependency of foreign resources for raw materials, the greatly increased competition of the access to raw materials in international market, and the increasing kinds of export restrictions. The goal of the EU s trade strategy is to ensure that the Union can meet its demand for raw materials through a sustainable and predictable supply from world markets under undistorted conditions. The main ways of the strategy are:leveraging bilateral and multilateral agreements to establish rules for trade of raw materials;tackling barriers distorting raw materials markets through existing disputes settlement mechanism, developing and intensifying outreach and diplomatic activities, including bilateral, plurilateral and multilateral dialogues on raw materials with all relevant partners and in all relevant international fora.EU raw materials strategy reflects the integration of EU decision-making and implementation characteristics.EU strategic raw materials have a direct impact on China which should be taken seriously.
