Abstract
Overpressured sedimentary basins are widespread and have great significance on hydrocarbon exploration. There are there types of formation mechanisms of overpressure: ①the influence of stress,②the increases of porose fluid volume,③liquid flowage and buoyancy.Overpressure improves the porosity and permeability of reservoirs. And it strengthens the sealing for hydrocarbon. There are still many problems to resolve, such as the influence of overpressure on the generation of hydrocarbon and the circle of episodic fluid expulsion.Further researches are needed on these issues.
