Abstract
The traditional Chinese sports culture is a kind of culture with the characteristics of its own unique feature of Chinese nation. The merger of the sports culture between China and western countries is an inevitable trend in the 21st century. In the course of this historic trend, we should perceive the traditional Chinese sports culture reasonably and recognize that the merger does not mean the disappearance of our national culture. The development of traditional Chinese sports culture and western sports culture has experienced the process of clash, maintenance, share and keeping pace with each other. In this process, it is a great contribution to the prosperity of the world sports culture to maintain the uniqueness of traditional Chinese sports culture. The 2008 Olympic Games will offer an excellent opportunity for the merger between traditional Chinese sports culture and western sports culture and for their development in common as well.
